May 2020 Meeting Notes

Meeting was called to order by president Ritchie Ferrel. 

Treasurers Report: We have mostly been getting money coming in due to membership fees.  

There will be a rodeo committee meeting Thursday night, May 21st. 

Fair Board is still planning on continuing with the fair. The rodeo will also be happening as long as Kansas goes into phase two with the governor. The fair board has asked for help managing a mechanical bull. They are asking that the rodeo queen candidates take money. The mechanical bull would take place Thursday and Friday night of the rodeo. They have also moved the concert back until later in the evening around 10pm.

Rodeo Queen Committee Update: Erin Urban put a promotion for Rodeo Queen on Facebook. There are several potential contestants. 

Activities Committee Update: Mutton Bustin’ and Adult Buckle Series are set for June 13th. Donna Barleen has found a new equine dentist, Erin Glassman. Erin says she will be ready in the fall and she does floating without sedation. A tentative date for the equine dentist is around the first of September. Donna will ask about cost and how many horses Erin is willing to do.

Donna mentioned that the city of Concordia is still putting on a fireworks show July 3rd. The ice cream social will be scheduled for then.

Drill team – Practice on Sunday evenings. Shooting sports has been cancelled for the season so there is no conflict there. They have 8 members so far. May 17th will be the first practice.

Arena Lights Update: The fixing of lights has been tabled until next year. Due to hardship with businesses and the virus. 

NCK Arena letters were done by Rick Croissant. We will put the new letters up on our work night. May 17th. 6:30pm

We need to redo the sign on the south side on highway 81. It has completely burned down. On the north side of highway 81, the sign just needs to be painted. We also need to fix the rodeo dates.
