November 2021 Meeting Notes

NCK Saddle Club Minutes November 2, 2021

President Ritchie Farrell called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm at the Fire Station Meeting Room.

The minutes were approved as read.  The Treasurer’s report was read and approved. Bills were presented and approved for payment.

Old Business:

Ritchie bought the mower at auction for $210.00. It is now parked at the Arena.

The Arena lighting project has not yet been started. Brenda or Lance will check with Jason Wheeler on a possible start date.

New Business:

Ritchie winterized the concession stand. Marleen moved all the pop and leftover Rodeo supplies to the North Concession stand. The refrigerators in the South concession stand are empty and unplugged.

The lock on the lower storage area of the Crow’s Nest failed and had to be replaced. Marleen presented a bill for $52.71 for the the lock and keys. The bill was approved. We still need to work on the window next to the door.

Lance will organize bringing back the shades from Kurt Kocher’s.

The Election committee discussed openings on the Board of Directors- Ron and Charlie will be going off the Board this year. Erin and Rick have one year left to serve, and Aggie and Lance have 2 years.

The motion was made, seconded, and approved to donate $100 to the Food Bank. Laura will check with Resource Council on having someone available to present check to at the Buckle series on Sunday.

The county has several loads of good dirt could have for the indoor arena, but we would need sand to mix in. The motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the dirt from the county and to pay for two loads of sand to mix in. Aggie will let the Fair Board know.

Aggie and Eric talked to Jamison Gross, Agriculture Instructor at CCCC, at the open house for the new ag arena at the college. It might be possible for us to cooperate with the college and use their Arena during inclement weather. The motion was made, seconded, and approved that If college students want to join the NCK Saddle Club and use our arena, they can do so by paying the $30 family membership to include their group.

Activities reported that there will be 8 Novice riders receiving prizes this year. Erin will get the pictures ready for the kids. Results of the Buckle Series will be announced at the Annual Meeting. T-Shirts are not yet in. Suggestions for next years activities included having the Buckle series on Friday nights, and a Kid’s Day Camp for Horsemanship. T e Day Camp could be in cooperation with the college.

Eric will put on a short roping clinic right after the Buckle Series on Nov 7.
