October 2021 Meeting Notes

Minutes of the October 5, 2021 NCK Saddle Club Meeting

President Ritchie Farrell called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm at the City Hall meeting room.

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The Treasurer’s report was presented and approved

Old Business:

The lighting project at the Arena is not yet in progress. It was noted that there may be additional expense with the project. Jason Wheeler is our contractor for the project.

New Business:

Security cameras were discussed. A set of security cameras is available at Harbor Freight for approximately $200.

A map of the Arena and a location on the east end for a manure bunker was discussed. Marleen volunteered to work on the map of the Arena.

Ritchie brought to our attention that a pull behind mower is on a future auction and the auction price will probably be in the $200 to $400 range. The motion was made, seconded, and carried to try to buy the mower.

The concession stand needs winterized, and Ritchie will buy the RV antifreeze needed, and winterize the water heater and pipes.

Committee reports:

Annual meeting:

Ritchie has arranged with the Legion to have the Annual meeting there on December 4. Social Hour will start at 5:00 pm, with the meal at 6:00pm. Each family will again be asked to bring a dessert. The menu will be choice of burger or chicken basket with French fries or chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salad bar, and coffee or tea. Cost would be $7 for the burger or chicken strip basket and $12 for the chicken fried steak.

Brenda suggested that the club subsidize the meal. The motion was made, seconded, and carried that the club charge $7 for the chicken strip or burger basket and $10 for the chicken fried steak.

Ritchie suggested that we have a drawing  for door prizes at the annual meeting; everyone renewing their membership would get their name in the hat for the drawing.

Fair Board:

Aggie reported that the Fair Board has put in a manure bunker in the livestock barn. The Fair Board has moved everything out of the covered arena, and the ground will need to be worked. Eric will check with Wayne Jeardoe about using his tractor. The Fair Board is interested in possibly putting up the lights Eric acquired from Abilene.
