October 2022 Meeting Notes

Minutes October 4, 2022

The meeting was called to order at Lance’s office by President Ritchie Farrell.  Secretary Marleen Parker read the minutes, which were approved as read.  Treasurer Brenda Lagasse gave the Treasurer’s report, including the rodeo and concession stand income, which was approved as read.

Old Business:

The hats have been ordered, but arrival date has been delayed by one week.

Michael Hansen inspected the Cow’s Nest, but we do not yet have his estimate for repairs.

The tractor is now running. A big Thank You to Ritchie.

We will need to take down the shades before winter. Volunteers are needed.  The Concession Stand will need winterized. Ritchie has the RV antifreeze for the plumbing system.  Marleen has cleaned out two of the refrigerators for the winter and will put out mouse poison in the concession stands.

New Business:

It was decided to send Earl Hale a Thank You card and to give his family a 2023 membership in appreciation for following the Club at the parade and picking up the road apples.

Marleen will send out the annual meeting letters to the members. Our meeting will be at the Broken Arrow Saloon in Aurora on December 11

Brenda reported that the cost of the Rodeo may go up next year, and that the CPRA may dissolve, which would mean that we would need a new Rodeo stock contractor. The Club agreed that we want the same weekend in July for our Rodeo, which would be July 7& 8. Aggie reported that the Fair Board does not yet have dates for the 2023 Fair.

The motion was made, seconded, and passed that we send the EKHA $25 for year end awards.

The roof on the old concession stand will need to be replaced. It was suggested that we tin the roof.

The Nominations Committee is seeking candidates for Officer and BOD positions. Rick Croisant and Erin Urban will be going off the Board this year. Lance and Aggie were elected to the Board in 2020, and Josh and Charlie were elected in 2021. BOD terms are for 3 years.

Activities Report:

Charlie will lead a short trail ride from the Arena after the Buckle Series events on October 9th.

The Buckle Series is going well, and it is working well to use the gate by the bucking chutes. The kids are doing a good job of keeping the grounds neat.  Awards will be announced at our Annual Meeting on December 11.

December 11 will be our Annual Meeting and Awards night at the Broken Arrow in Aurora.

The meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
